Today's topic is all about your first year of teaching. I have been teaching for 15 years! I am not sure I remember much about my first year other than it was a blur and pretty rough in the management area. </div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/--nQk2BXyNwc/WyCB0qeqbbI/AAAAAAAAE6Y/PYF4Hy9-ges-hBFc0t11j4zMPRi7dU9cwCLcBGAs/s1600/first%2Byear%2Bof%2Bteaching.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="214" data-original-width="640" height="212" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/--nQk2BXyNwc/WyCB0qeqbbI/AAAAAAAAE6Y/PYF4Hy9-ges-hBFc0t11j4zMPRi7dU9cwCLcBGAs/s640/first%2Byear%2Bof%2Bteaching.png" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
At the end of student teaching in December 2002, a 4th grade position became open because the current teacher was moving to a Title 1 position. The administrator asked me if I would like the position and of course I said "Yes!" However, I was student teaching ELA and Social Studies and the position was Math and Science. Ouch! Thank goodness for the support I had that year! The former teacher came into the room many times to help me teach Math, and I had a wonderful assistant who helped me keep up with paperwork, student progress and much more. But I do remember walking into a new room of new students and not establishing rules and procedures with these students. I knew they already had them in place and assumed they would work with me. I was so wrong and learned my lesson! I surely learned so much in those long 5 months that college definitely didn't prepare me for. The real thing is the real deal and those experiences were growing experiences for me as a professional. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I can now look back and see how much I have grown as an educator. Even at year 15, I am still looking for new approaches to take with my students to keep them engaged and achieving success. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
A few tips I would give new teachers is </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
#1 <b>Establish your Rules and Expectations</b>- Establish your Classroom Rules together so students are held accountable and take ownership. Set high expectations with a No Excuse policy. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
#2 Take a <b>deep breath</b> at the end of the day and <b>reflect</b> on what went well and something to improve on. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
#3 <b>Collaborate </b>with other teachers on lessons, behavior management techniques, etc..</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
#4 <b>Take time for yourself/family each evening!</b></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<b><br /></b></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<b><br /></b></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<b><br /></b></div>

I am so excited a couple of teachers of Instagram that I have followed for many years, <a href="http://lifeinfifthgrade.com/" target="_blank">Life In Fifth Grade</a> and <a href="http://www.teachinginroom6.com/" target="_blank">Teaching in Room 6</a>, are hosting blog topics each week this summer! I can remember when I blogged consistently and when blogging was one of the only outlets to share teaching approaches, activities, and resources with others. That feels like many years ago!! LOL! I definitely don't blog frequently and have honestly not even updated my blog in the last year or so. Last year, I think I wrote only one blog post :( Today with a plethora of social media outlets, we can share and collaborate a lot easier especially with hashtags. Hashtags make for one very happy teacher! #hastaghappyteacher</div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
Today's topic is an Introduction or All About Me. </div>

I'm Erica Shepherd a 4th grade teacher. I have been teaching for 15 years. I began teaching a 4th/5th grade Math and Science for 3 years. I earned my ESL certification and then began teaching ESL to Kinder-1st graders for 3 years. Then because a 4th grade teacher was needed and I missed the classroom, I moved back to 4th grade and have been there ever since. So, for 9 years I have taught ELA and Social Studies, but this coming year I will be self contained teaching ALL subjects. I am so nervous about teaching 4th grade Common Core Math, but am so excited to bring together social and academic learning throughout the day with a new approach. I am hopeful that as a self-contained teacher and taking on the Responsive Classroom approach this coming year that my classroom climate will flourish and my students will achieve high academic success. </div>

I am married and have 4 boys. Yes, four boys who keep me extremely busy or at least when they are not playing Fornite! I love to exercise and workout. The last few months I have been working out super hard and watching my diet and I am so excited about the results I am achieving. With 4 boys there's no time for me to go to a gym, so all of my exercise is done at home with workout DVDs, (Jillian Michaels) is my favorite, lifting weights, using my husband's workout bench, and running. I try to get my boys participating as much as possible and occasionally they will run with me in the evenings. Yesterday, I signed our family up for membership to the New Orleans Running and Track Club and my oldest son and I ran in a 2 mile race for the Summer Series. Next year, I turn 40 and one of my goals is to run a half marathon. </div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I also love to read! So, I joined a Book Club two years ago with some amazing friends and have read more than I ever had. Our book choice for this month is <i>All the Little Lights</i> by Jamie McGuire. It just came in the mail yesterday, so I am excited to get started. </div>

It's Monday again and I'm excited to link up with <a href="http://4thgradefrolics.blogspot.com/" target="_blank">Tara at 4th Grade Frolics</a> for her Monday Made It series.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/--bVLTQFs7Yk/WVB2DQjogII/AAAAAAAAEu0/1MIfP1FboJsluo0UUatd2PQOHzkQ8KweQCLcBGAs/s1600/Monday%2BMade%2BIt%2B1.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="320" data-original-width="320" src="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/--bVLTQFs7Yk/WVB2DQjogII/AAAAAAAAEu0/1MIfP1FboJsluo0UUatd2PQOHzkQ8KweQCLcBGAs/s1600/Monday%2BMade%2BIt%2B1.png" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
One of my goals for this upcoming year is to be more organized. For example, having labeled binders to organize all of our assessments, texts, and testing materials. I've always organized in manilla folders and had it nicely arranged in the file cabinet, but it tends to get messy and I need more order to the order in the folder if that makes sense, ;) So, with those thoughts on folders becoming binders that I'm going to begin with when I get back into my classroom in the next month or so, I have to start with an area behind my desk that is always a mess. I wish I had a picture to post, but I don't, so take my word for it when I say it is a mess. There's a small area behind my desk that I house all of my teacher tools such as tape, paperclips, white-out, numerous pens because you can never have too many, highlighters, and other things that are all thrown in a purple basket. Every now and then I straighten it out, but when I need something I can't ever find it. Well that takes you to my first Monday Made It below. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The teacher toolbox! I am so excited about this toolbox. It is going to keep the back of my desk looking sharp. I found my toolbox at Lowe's for $17. You can also purchase on Amazon, but I found the price to be higher. Then comes the labels that I found and purchased on Teachers Pay Teachers. My classroom colors are red and blue, so I went with a nautical theme for the labels. My purchase came from the <a href="https://www.teacherspayteachers.com/Product/Nautical-Theme-Teacher-Toolbox-Labels-1993050" target="_blank">The Teaching Texan</a>. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Three of my boys are wanting one of their own now for their desks in their rooms, so I may be making more of them next week. </div>

My next Monday Made It was inspired by Joanne Miller at <a href="http://www.headoverheelsforteaching.com/" target="_blank">Head Over Heels for Teaching</a>. She made the cutest keychains for her students and I just had to have them. I purchased the keychains for about $6 for a pack of 16 "Playside Creations" keychains. You can find Joanne's template that fits the keychains <a href="https://www.teacherspayteachers.com/Product/Button-and-Key-Chain-Templates-Ready-to-Print-Editable-3199490" target="_blank">here</a>. I used scissors to cut them out and the help of one of my boys to put them together. They look great! </div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
Finally Monday Made It #3 is a recipe that I got from my mom that she found on Robbie's Recipes. We both love Wonton Soup and I was craving it, so off I went to purchase the ingredients to make it. Here's the recipe below. A few things I did a little differently to make it as easiest as possible are I bought green onions already cut and I froze the remainder that I didn't use. I used ground ginger which I know is not the same as grated fresh ginger, but it was easier and I had it already. I didn't add white pepper because I forgot. The napa cabbage was huge in the grocery and I didn't want to buy it because I only needed a small amount, so luckily I found a ginger sesame stir-fry that included the cabbage, snap pea pods, red cabbage and carrots. It contained a few extra ingredients, but it was the perfect amount for my pot of soup. I also excluded the mushrooms, sorry but I'm not a fan. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-fTc_Vf4uY4Y/WVB-aO_QYtI/AAAAAAAAEvo/4ZSgBbs73N4BoCReWexfYu_PZ_GFi3sAgCEwYBhgL/s1600/recipe.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="640" data-original-width="480" height="640" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-fTc_Vf4uY4Y/WVB-aO_QYtI/AAAAAAAAEvo/4ZSgBbs73N4BoCReWexfYu_PZ_GFi3sAgCEwYBhgL/s640/recipe.jpg" width="480" /></a></div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
This is a picture of all the ingredients that go into the stuffing of the wonton. My favorite part of the soup. It actually makes a lot of wontons. I had about 10 leftover that I didn't use for the soup. I fried them up for my hubby the next day and he ate them with sweet and sour sauce. I had a couple, but not too many. My "Monday Made It #1" is decor for my youngest son's bedroom. This was a very simple Monday Made It, but it was painted by Jack with love. We went out to Hobby Lobby to purchase the letter "J" and some red acrylic paint. Adding the letter J has been long over due, 3 years over due. I've had the space there to add the J since he was a baby when the crib was on the wall, but just never could find the time or I would forget to purchase when I was out and about running errands. So, we definitely made this a priority last week. Jack was so eager to help me paint his letter J. Below is the finished product!</div>

Monday Made It #2 is was one of my low carb recipes. This recipe was given to me by my sister. One of my goals for the summer is to eat healthier and to exercise daily. So, I've been going to Pinterest for lots of low carb recipes. Click <a href="https://www.pinterest.com/eshepherd/low-carb-recipes/" target="_blank">here </a>to see my <a href="https://www.pinterest.com/eshepherd/low-carb-recipes/" target="_blank">Low Carb recipe board</a>. I've been staying away from carbs and adding more healthy fats to my diets (walnuts, pecans, etc.) Below is a crab cake spinach salad that I had for dinner on two occasions so far this summer. It is yummy! The ingredients are organic spinach, a red onion, walnuts, goat cheese, a crab cake, and balsamic vinagarette.<br />

My last Monday Made It, was not made my me, but purchased off of Etsy for my husband for Father's Day. He plays basketball two days a week and uses a sweat towel that was getting old. So, I purchased him a new one and had it embroidered. Hope his basketball buddies don't make fun of him :) Click <a href="https://www.etsy.com/shop/PSbyAmy?ref=l2-shopheader-name" target="_blank">here</a> for the Etsy store I used. </div>

I sure do and so do many of my Social Media friends. People are always posting pictures of themselves celebrating a National Holiday. I'm sure there's a hashtag - #NationalHolidays that you can post to and follow.<br />
<br />
Well, my students love them as well. They are always so eager to enter the room each morning to find out what the National Holiday will be for the day. Some students will even come into the room and tell me they heard it announced on the radio on their way to school.<br />
<br />
Each morning in my 4th grade classroom I display the National Holiday of the day. I use the site <a href="https://www.checkiday.com/" target="_blank">Checkiday</a><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Xnl8TtWQ6qc/WTih6beBHXI/AAAAAAAAEsU/k234csvOmMElpmKVo2qZ6KsPxTdd03lLgCLcB/s1600/Checkiday.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="590" data-original-width="1199" height="196" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Xnl8TtWQ6qc/WTih6beBHXI/AAAAAAAAEsU/k234csvOmMElpmKVo2qZ6KsPxTdd03lLgCLcB/s400/Checkiday.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
I used this site because it displays an image on various holidays for the day. I look for the one that states National in the front, sometimes there's more than one. So, when this occurs I search Google with each Holiday to see which one is more popular, or the one that Google selects as the National Holiday. I then click on images to find a picture that I can paste onto my Promethean board for display with the National Holiday. However next year I may use the site <a href="https://www.nationaldaycalendar.com/tomorrow/" target="_blank">National Day Calendar</a>. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-N6N9wMUBQqk/WTisoh3xcJI/AAAAAAAAEso/mF1Q_7_EYsMQDAJjYFldD3AIs4L-fOe3QCLcB/s1600/June_7__2017_%25E2%2580%2593_NATIONAL_BOONE_DAY_%25E2%2580%2593_NATIONAL_CHOCOLATE_ICE_CREAM_DAY_%25E2%2580%2593_NATIONAL_VCR_DAY_%25E2%2580%2593_NATIONAL_RUNNING_DAY___National_Day_Calendar.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="612" data-original-width="743" height="263" src="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-N6N9wMUBQqk/WTisoh3xcJI/AAAAAAAAEso/mF1Q_7_EYsMQDAJjYFldD3AIs4L-fOe3QCLcB/s320/June_7__2017_%25E2%2580%2593_NATIONAL_BOONE_DAY_%25E2%2580%2593_NATIONAL_CHOCOLATE_ICE_CREAM_DAY_%25E2%2580%2593_NATIONAL_VCR_DAY_%25E2%2580%2593_NATIONAL_RUNNING_DAY___National_Day_Calendar.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
This site not only gives you the image, but also the history of the day. I may add a job to my classroom this coming year and have a students read up on the holiday and share it with the class to start the day or I may assign a student to each week of school to pick the holiday of that week of their choice to present to the class. OOHHH! The ideas are flowing now!<br />
<br />
Displaying these holidays on my board always sparks a discussion amongst students, especially the food related ones. We talk about whether we've eaten the dessert before like (National Chocolate Ice Cream Day) or if it's a well-known person, place, or event we connect it to our learning. I especially love the National Holidays that relate to our Social Studies Unit of Study. This allows for a way to remember and honor the heroism and achievements of the people, events, and our nation's ethnic heritage.<br />
<br />
There are many benefits to exposing students to these holidays:<br />
<br />
1. They become informed citizens.<br />
<br />
2. It increases communication in the classroom and outside of school.<br />
<br />
3. It increases interests on particular holidays.<br />
<br />
4. It encourages students to explore.<br />
<br />
I hope I've sparked an interest in you to expose your students to National Holidays! <br />
<br />

This is where the Assess Your Response strategy comes in. This is a strategy I practice with students weekly.<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-ikWy-7S4lNc/V811XNgcO-I/AAAAAAAAEmQ/DMr6l6oZQDAOwnEfRevP83kg91aE1oFBQCLcB/s1600/AResponse3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="227" src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-ikWy-7S4lNc/V811XNgcO-I/AAAAAAAAEmQ/DMr6l6oZQDAOwnEfRevP83kg91aE1oFBQCLcB/s320/AResponse3.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />The anchor chart to the left shows the three steps to this strategy. I call it the SSP strategy. Whenever students see a constructed response on their test or during a weekly assignment they are to put SSP in the margin of the response. The first step is to STEAL words from the question to restate and answer very simply. Students are not allowed to use "because" in the very first sentence. This comes later. Then a SENTENCE to explain the "Power Word". Last to PROVE their answer with evidence from the text. Once student write their response they Assess their response by using colored pencils to check for the three components of the response.<br />
<br />
Red = STEAL<br />
Blue= SENTENCE TO EXPLAIN<br />
Orange= PROVE WITH EVIDENCE<br />
<br />
<br />
Below you can see the daily Writing goal on the Smartboard and my modeled and guided response.<br />

<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-TTotBR3b-cw/V9texpRvYSI/AAAAAAAAEms/rFYkdEhKdwo-2dNGmExfzdPiXkCHclgLQCLcB/s1600/UNERD%2Banchor%2Bchart.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-TTotBR3b-cw/V9texpRvYSI/AAAAAAAAEms/rFYkdEhKdwo-2dNGmExfzdPiXkCHclgLQCLcB/s400/UNERD%2Banchor%2Bchart.jpg" width="300" /></a></div>
Close Reading is a strategy I begin practicing in my classroom at the beginning of the year and continue to practice with students with every text we read. Close Reading allows students to gain a deeper understanding of the text in order to extract details and most importantly to make connections. It is all about the connections students can make with the text to deepen their understanding and become successful 4th grade readers and writers.<br />
<br />
Here's one Close Reading strategy that we use when reading a text. It is the <b>UNERD</b> strategy.<br />
<br />
<b>U</b>= Underline the title and make connections<br />
<br />
<b>N</b>= Number the paragraphs<br />
<br />
<b>E</b>= Evaluate the questions<br />
<br />
<b>R</b>= Read the text and annotate purposefully<br />
<br />
<b>D</b>= Determine the Answers<br />
<br />
Let me break it down for you with a text on Hurricane Katrina which is fitting for the day since it is the 11th Anniversary of the storm.<br />
<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
STEP 1= Students should <b>WRITE UNERD</b> at the top of their text</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-j7S9SuHhwnE/V8Todhb4QXI/AAAAAAAAEl0/3hd8r6wbeq4PmYyMfCey-YszIF9ARVYvwCLcB/s1600/UNERD.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-j7S9SuHhwnE/V8Todhb4QXI/AAAAAAAAEl0/3hd8r6wbeq4PmYyMfCey-YszIF9ARVYvwCLcB/s640/UNERD.jpg" width="480" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
STEP 2= <b>UNDERLINE THE TITLE & Make Connections AND EACH PARAGRAPH </b>(underlining each paragraph is something new I added this year. This helps students chunk, or break down the text and gives them stopping points to <b>THINK</b> about what they have read.) </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-HfL5aflNgzQ/V8TodQe7hMI/AAAAAAAAElw/8WvnzZv16_wQvm6yaBmg3chr9equ3aslwCEw/s1600/U%2Bin%2BUNERD.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-HfL5aflNgzQ/V8TodQe7hMI/AAAAAAAAElw/8WvnzZv16_wQvm6yaBmg3chr9equ3aslwCEw/s640/U%2Bin%2BUNERD.jpg" width="480" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
STEP 3= <b>NUMBER THE PARAGRAPHS</b></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<b><br /></b></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-2SUgKj4gHPQ/V8TodZ1A0VI/AAAAAAAAEls/0Z1ZIoO3ZIo1GssRA5JB3PjnF2OMCcX2gCEw/s1600/N%2Bin%2BUNERD.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-2SUgKj4gHPQ/V8TodZ1A0VI/AAAAAAAAEls/0Z1ZIoO3ZIo1GssRA5JB3PjnF2OMCcX2gCEw/s640/N%2Bin%2BUNERD.jpg" width="480" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
STEP 4= <b>EVALUATE THE QUESTION</b></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<b><br /></b></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
For this text, our GUIDING QUESTION was </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<b><br /></b></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<b>Is this a firsthand or secondhand account? Support with evidence. </b></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<b><br /></b></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<b><br /></b></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
STEP 5= <b>READ THE TEXT AND ANNOTATE WITH PURPOSE</b></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Below you can see we annotated the text for purpose. We noted the key word Hurricane Katrina and that the author provides us mostly facts about the storm, how it came to be and its effects on the New Orleans area. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<b><br /></b></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-HN-OFA-htOc/V8TodRU7XqI/AAAAAAAAElo/eNwrhMTnP8EhNayFd9A8vPzQ6QnlhsZWQCEw/s1600/R%2Bin%2BUNERD.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-HN-OFA-htOc/V8TodRU7XqI/AAAAAAAAElo/eNwrhMTnP8EhNayFd9A8vPzQ6QnlhsZWQCEw/s640/R%2Bin%2BUNERD.jpg" width="480" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<b><br /></b></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<b><br /></b></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
STEP 6 = <b>DETERMINE THE ANSWER</b></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<b><br /></b></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<b><br /></b></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<b><br /></b></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<b>(Stay tuned for how to answer a short response question.) </b></div>

This is the usual daily question I get from my boys during the summer.<br />
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Well, do I have a surprise for them. Today we are going on a Sno-ball Hoppin' Adventure. I googled the top sno-ball stands in the New Orleans area and saved them to google maps. (See below) Here are a few sites that I retrieved information from about the most popular snowball stands in the New Orleans area from <a href="http://blog.nola.com/dining/2008/07/in_new_orleans_snowballs_are_a.html" target="_blank">here</a> and <a href="http://www.neworleansmomsblog.com/2013/07/11/confessions-of-a-snowball-aholic/" target="_blank">here</a>.<br />
<br /></div>
<div>
<h1 style="background-color: white; border: 0px; font-family: proxima-nova, 'Helvetica Neue', Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: inherit; font-weight: inherit; line-height: 18px; margin: 0px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">
</h1>
<iframe allowfullscreen="" frameborder="0" height="450" src="https://www.google.com/maps/embed?pb=!1m14!1m12!1m3!1d110637.7073167866!2d-90.10181916765019!3d29.938355204742766!2m3!1f0!2f0!3f0!3m2!1i1024!2i768!4f13.1!5e0!3m2!1sen!2sus!4v1465561342222" style="border: 0;" width="600"></iframe>
<br />
<br />
The plan is to visit each site, take a picture in front of each one, purchase a sno-ball the most popular flavor of course, split it amongst myself and my 4 boys using Mardi Gras cups, and then rate it with a smile or frown from my boys. This should be fun!<br />
<br />
So first up today was the <b>Cold Spot</b> (2837 Barataria Blvd.) in Marrero because this is the closest one to our home and the only snowball stand we ever go to. This is our usual Friday treat after school or when we are just looking for something sweet and cold. The boys usually get flavors such as Pokemon, Rainbow, Orange, Strawberry, and Ice-cream, but today after some research I found that <b><span style="color: #274e13;">Chocolate</span></b> is best here at this stand.<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="text-align: start;">Here is our votes on <b><span style="color: #274e13;">Chocolate</span></b>………. I thought it was pretty yummy! It was rich tasting and the ice was soft. Definitely one I may order next time I'm looking for something sweet. </span></div>

<br />
<br />
<a href="http://www.snobliz.com/" target="_blank">Hansen</a>'s was our next stop across the Crescent City Connection to 4801 Tchoupitoulas Street in New Orleans. This was a new stand for us as well as the rest coming up. I loved the ambiance of this place. There's lots of homemade sno-ball flavor signs, and they are even pet-friendly. Here we tried the flavors <b><span style="color: #274e13;">Satsuma</span></b>, <b><span style="color: #274e13;">Grapefruit</span></b>, and <b><span style="color: #274e13;">Watermelon</span></b>. They were all natural flavors, delicious, very light, and not too rich which is perfect in my opinion. <a href="http://www.snobliz.com/" target="_blank">Hansen</a>'s was my favorite of all today!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
Here is our votes on <b><span style="color: #274e13;">Satsuma</span></b>, <b><span style="color: #274e13;">Grapefruit</span>,</b> and <b><span style="color: #274e13;">Watermelon</span></b>…………. <span style="color: #274e13;"><b>Satsuma</b> </span>was by far the best of all three! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-hSucG5tWnqA/V1tYcSTcQvI/AAAAAAAAEio/BKNNBw-lQ1sS8Z9-WQMhXrFhq7b9OYzwQCKgB/s1600/IMG_3002.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-hSucG5tWnqA/V1tYcSTcQvI/AAAAAAAAEio/BKNNBw-lQ1sS8Z9-WQMhXrFhq7b9OYzwQCKgB/s320/IMG_3002.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://www.plumstreetsnoball.com/" target="_blank">Plum Street Snoballs</a> was our third stop at 1300 Burdette St. in New Orleans. Their sno-balls were pretty cool because they serve them in pails. Kind of hard to see from the second photo below this one, but because it's put in a pail they give you a plastic bag when it begins to leak. Here we tried the <b><span style="color: #274e13;">KingCake</span></b> flavor. It was very rich and had a creamy consistency. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-6Y0qxua7hWc/V1tbHKYy6PI/AAAAAAAAEi8/hc7xbfaAKJgglODOrZzK0xTODZb481GzQCLcB/s1600/IMG_3006.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-6Y0qxua7hWc/V1tbHKYy6PI/AAAAAAAAEi8/hc7xbfaAKJgglODOrZzK0xTODZb481GzQCLcB/s400/IMG_3006.jpg" width="300" /></a></div>

<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
Here were our votes for the <span style="color: #274e13;"><b>KingCake</b> </span>flavor sno-ball……………… Excuse Bryce's thumb down, he didn't like any of the fancy flavors :(</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
Our 4th stop was to <a href="https://m.facebook.com/PandorasSnowballs" target="_blank">Pandora's Snowballs</a> at 901 N. Carrolton Avenue in New Orleans. I didn't have any flavors in mind to try here, so we just asked if they had any special flavors. We were told they are the only stand with <b><span style="color: #274e13;">Sky Blue Cream</span></b>, so <b><span style="color: #274e13;">Sky Blue Cream</span></b> it was.! It was very rich, but pretty delicious! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-S9zZzwUOFEo/V1tcYibnrTI/AAAAAAAAEjM/0gxI9LJOFdIpkvVlXBZ7X4sC8R6wz3MRwCLcB/s1600/IMG_3014.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-S9zZzwUOFEo/V1tcYibnrTI/AAAAAAAAEjM/0gxI9LJOFdIpkvVlXBZ7X4sC8R6wz3MRwCLcB/s400/IMG_3014.jpg" width="300" /></a></div>

<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
Our 5th stop was to <a href="http://www.nolasnow.com/" target="_blank">NOLA Snoballs</a> at 908 Harrison Avenue in New Orleans. The boys were tired at this point considering we had been in the car driving around for 2 hours since the start of our Sno-ball Hoppin day. Also, Bryce at this point as I stated earlier wasn't fond of the fancy popular flavors, so I caved and let him get a <b><span style="color: #274e13;">Strawberry</span></b> Sno-Ball. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
Here are the votes on the <b><span style="color: #274e13;">Strawberry</span></b> sno-ball…………… It was good and a regular flavor. </div>

Our final and 6th Sno-Ball Stand was <a href="https://www.facebook.com/Sals-Sno-Balls-95703951200/" target="_blank">Sal's Sno Balls</a> at 1823 Metairie Road in Metairie. Evan, in red, wanted to choose the flavors. We tried <b><span style="color: #274e13;">Coffee</span> </b>and <b><span style="color: #274e13;">Lemon-ice</span></b>. They were both really yummy! This was probably by far the most kid-friendliest of sno-ball stands. They had lots of stumps for guests to sit and shaded areas for you to enjoy your sno-ball.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Here were our votes for <span style="color: #274e13;"><b>Coffee</b> </span>and <b><span style="color: #274e13;">Lemon-Ice</span></b> …………….<b><span style="color: #274e13;">Lemon-Ice</span></b> was my favorite! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-6NJ_UfxGrao/V1tgArfrY_I/AAAAAAAAEj4/J_aSr7sQs5wQCfZzlfRGsL2Cy0DuJQ0vQCLcB/s1600/IMG_3030.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-6NJ_UfxGrao/V1tgArfrY_I/AAAAAAAAEj4/J_aSr7sQs5wQCfZzlfRGsL2Cy0DuJQ0vQCLcB/s320/IMG_3030.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
All in all it was a fun day and the boys really did enjoy the Sno-Ball Hoppin Adventure despite some of their grumpy and tired faces. Thanks to my iPhone for getting us to and from each stand. I don't think I've ever driven through so many back streets throughout the city. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
So, we had 10 Sno-Ball stands on our original itinerary, added one- Plum street snowballs, and made it to six and it costs us just about $20. At most places, we only ordered one small for us all to share. This resulted in me getting asked by the employees if I'm sure I just want one, or them repeating my order in a question when they noticed I had 4 boys with me. I explained to them that we were on our Sno-Ball Hoppin Adventure and this wasn't the first stand today we've visited :)</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I'm looking forward to another Sno-Ball Hoppin Adventure in our future!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">

State Testing is over and grades are in for the final report card and basically school is over, but there's still a week left of school and some sort of structure must still be maintained. So, in order to calm those anxious students I found, borrowed and created 5 EOY projects.<br />
<br />
1. <u><b>Waving Good-bye to 5th Grade Art Project</b></u><br />
<u><b><br /></b></u>
This idea I found on <a href="http://www.teachinginroom6.com/2012/06/goodbye-waves.html" target="_blank">Teaching in Room 6's</a> blog. This is one fantastic teacher to follow! Students were instructed to trace their hand and then to draw a self portrait. Next they adorned the background of their photo with memories of 5th grade including friends, field trips, best activities, etc. Then the picture was fully colored. Finally, they traced their hand on a separate piece of paper cut it out and used a brad to attach it. Voila! They were now waving goodbye to all of their memories in 5th grade.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-nkzwRpYB78M/V02jLkLeWVI/AAAAAAAAEgI/OYY2pzemjkIiPaN04XTURLzeGYbQcJoxACLcB/s1600/waving%2Bgoodbye.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-nkzwRpYB78M/V02jLkLeWVI/AAAAAAAAEgI/OYY2pzemjkIiPaN04XTURLzeGYbQcJoxACLcB/s320/waving%2Bgoodbye.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
2. <b><u>Word Cloud using <a href="http://www.tagul.com/" target="_blank">Tagul</a></u></b></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<b><u><br /></u></b></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
This idea I was reminded of when sifting through <a href="https://www.pinterest.com/eshepherd/" target="_blank">Pinterest</a>. Students rotated out on our 3 desktop computers to create a Word Cloud filling them with 5-6 character traits to describe themselves. I had a list of character traits on the board from them to choose from. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-Mfr8hP4RObA/V02kNKJ3byI/AAAAAAAAEgQ/5V7ii-qQJnwsxbtQ8rh-ylBcO1uOPogRwCLcB/s1600/word%2Bcloud.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-Mfr8hP4RObA/V02kNKJ3byI/AAAAAAAAEgQ/5V7ii-qQJnwsxbtQ8rh-ylBcO1uOPogRwCLcB/s320/word%2Bcloud.jpg" width="240" /></a><a href="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-cb4IQkZ8IbM/V02kNHT7ccI/AAAAAAAAEgU/DTh2qKare98kmFWP7HKpWYXtzuaAtPhygCLcB/s1600/word%2Bcloud%2B1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-cb4IQkZ8IbM/V02kNHT7ccI/AAAAAAAAEgU/DTh2qKare98kmFWP7HKpWYXtzuaAtPhygCLcB/s320/word%2Bcloud%2B1.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<br />
3. <b><u>Magnet and Pencil</u></b><br />
<br />
Here was our EOY gift to students. A pencil purchased from Oriental Trading and a magnet encasing their school photo. The magnets I made for all students since it required using a hot glue gun.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-_nf96l1xtME/V02kzaPcKqI/AAAAAAAAEgc/VulM-HLmBdktIcWXKVBXsbFcYEv-qQ51wCLcB/s1600/magnet%2Band%2Bpencil.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-_nf96l1xtME/V02kzaPcKqI/AAAAAAAAEgc/VulM-HLmBdktIcWXKVBXsbFcYEv-qQ51wCLcB/s320/magnet%2Band%2Bpencil.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
<br />
4. <b><u>Question of the Day</u></b><br />
<b><u><br /></u></b>
This idea I borrowed from <a href="https://www.instagram.com/5thgradeinflorida/" target="_blank">@5thgradeinflorida </a>my students loved! I posed a question with the day of the week for students to ponder and answer on our class board. The students were always eager to come in the class to see what the theme and question would be.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Fdnoevf9WNU/V02mO9xAhTI/AAAAAAAAEgo/hd-RM97Cn50jdjjx7k66kpCK9DGOUBiIwCLcB/s1600/graffit%2Bboard%2BMonday.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Fdnoevf9WNU/V02mO9xAhTI/AAAAAAAAEgo/hd-RM97Cn50jdjjx7k66kpCK9DGOUBiIwCLcB/s320/graffit%2Bboard%2BMonday.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
5. <b><u>Beach Balls for Class Signatures</u></b></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">

Another great idea found on <a href="https://www.pinterest.com/pin/240661173810247409/" target="_blank">Pinterest</a>. Each student received a beach ball which I purchased from the Dollar Tree to collect signatures from their friends. </div>

This week our focus was on point of view and writing in response to a text about the different viewpoints of the characters and how their point of view influences the events in the story.<br />
<br />
Monday and Tuesday this week we read and analyzed the text. Monday we read the text the first time to get the gist and students worked in cooperative pairs on text dependent questions. Then we went back and analyzed the text for the main character/speaker's point of view about the text on Tuesday. Students made a 3-column chart in their notebook, noting the three characters, their point of view on the topic, and evidence from the text supporting their point of view. Finally, today we took on writing in response to the text.<br />
<br />
Before we begin writing there are a few steps we must take when approaching the writing prompt.<br />
<br />
Our learning goal is I <b>can </b>draw evidence from a literary text to write an extended response <b>by</b> :<br />
<br />
<ul>
<li>reading the prompt</li>
<li>analyzing and breaking down the prompt</li>
<li>making a plan </li>
<li>writing in response to the prompt</li>
</ul>
<div style="text-align: center;">
First we chorally read the prompt. (Prompt taken from i-Ready workbook) </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-sdJV33o1SjY/VvNDXlrwxoI/AAAAAAAAEe4/h2chs3h-UlUlVimPsjLBQ_Xi69vEdevDQ/s1600/Screen%2BShot%2B2016-03-23%2Bat%2B8.29.55%2BPM.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="200" src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-sdJV33o1SjY/VvNDXlrwxoI/AAAAAAAAEe4/h2chs3h-UlUlVimPsjLBQ_Xi69vEdevDQ/s400/Screen%2BShot%2B2016-03-23%2Bat%2B8.29.55%2BPM.png" width="400" /></a></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Then we closely read the prompt for testing verbs and broke down those key words in the prompt for better understanding. We make our plan in the margin and then have a discussion of the text with our partners and share out with the class our thinking on what we may include in our response also noting evidence in the text to use in our response to support our answer. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-fv48nl23btE/VvNF98CBnfI/AAAAAAAAEfE/5C0XNp6huNsoJrayBs8lFB_wAuoCWjqxg/s1600/writing%2Bpic.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-fv48nl23btE/VvNF98CBnfI/AAAAAAAAEfE/5C0XNp6huNsoJrayBs8lFB_wAuoCWjqxg/s400/writing%2Bpic.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Tonight students will re-read the text and tomorrow they will begin their writing response. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
What techniques do you use with your students to break down lengthy prompts? </div>
<div>

Of course, I came upon the idea through my PLN on Twitter. On February 15th, I participated in a Twitter #4thchat on the topic Read Across America. You can check out the archive of the chat <a href="https://www.participate.com/transcripts/4thchat/b129aaa7-1f47-4f2a-8966-97505ddeefe1" target="_blank">here</a>. A plethora of ideas were shared and one of them was hosting a Spirit Week for your students. I went straight to Pinterest for my ideas and found many already made flyers. I borrowed a few ideas and created one for my school. Here's a run down of our flyer.<br>

<span style="background-color: white; font-family: tahoma, arial, 'nimbus sans l', sans-serif; font-size: x-small;">Spirit Week included the following: </span><br>

Today was by far the most favorite of all the days! The students really got into it with finding a friend to dress as twins. My grade level even got involved!<br>
Here are a few picks from the day: I'm all the way on the right with my 5th grade team. <div><br>

I first heard about this day which is celebrated around the country through Twitter. During my weekly participation in the Monday night #4thchat on Twitter, teachers were tweeting how they would take part in this day. There were so many awesome ideas shared which empowered me to become involved. About 15 minutes into the chat, I networked with 3 other teachers. We decided to have our students participate in a <a href="https://www.blogger.com/getkahoot.com" id="id_77c9_d092_dba2_978f">Kahoot</a> game. @plnaugle hosted the game and set up a google hangout for us to view the game and each other's classes. We played against 3 other classes from Texas, Indiana, and Louisiana. It was exciting!! The first quiz was on identifying different types of Oreo cookies. @plnaugle's class won that game. Then we completed a quiz on logos. It was a win for us! Many of my students had not participated in a Kahoot game against another class let alone a Google hangout, so they were in awe of how cool it was to be live with other classes around the globe. It really was an awesome experience for everyone. Here are a few pics from our day. </div>

These are some of the questions that my 5th graders are exploring this week through a Wonderopolis article.<br />
<br />

They are engaged, motivated and acquiring new words to add to their vocabularies.<br />
<br />
As I've written in past posts that you can read <a href="http://ericashep.blogspot.com/2015/07/word-nerds-chapter-6-book-study-its.html" target="_blank">here</a> and <a href="http://ericashep.blogspot.com/2015/08/a-vocabulary-family-reunion.html" target="_blank">here</a>, one of my goals this year was to increase vocabulary study with my students. It is going well! We are talking, writing, and using new words, finding them in print, and playing games with new words. <a href="https://getkahoot.com/" target="_blank">Kahoot </a>is our favorite game by far!<br />
<br />
This week I asked students to create a slideshow of their words using the Keynote app on our class iPads. Each slide was to contain the word, related words and a picture depicting the word. They were highly motivated and excited, and there was lots of discussion going on with partners on what picture would be the best one to represent their word.<br />
<br />
Here are a few of the slideshows created today!<br />

<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-Q93l3u__I3k/Vd5qqMQiRqI/AAAAAAAAEYc/tVlr5E4btDg/s1600/word%2Bnerds.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-Q93l3u__I3k/Vd5qqMQiRqI/AAAAAAAAEYc/tVlr5E4btDg/s1600/word%2Bnerds.jpg" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
This week my students were engaged in a vocabulary game modified from the book Word Nerds. In chapter 6 of Word Nerds they discuss a game to play called Block Party" where the students mingle with their related words. Well my class and I decided to rename it "A Vocabulary Family Reunion" because what do you do at a family reunion, but meet or reunite with current or new family members.<br />
<br />
Each day my class helper passes out the lanyards and students write a sentence with their word. Today they wrote a sentence with their word, but were also asked to use a conjunction in their sentence since we are learning about conjunctions this week. Then each family of related words were asked to meet in a particular area of the room. After much modeling each day of expected behavior and what they were expected to do once with their families, they did great. Each person greeted a family member by shaking a family member's hand and saying, " Hi, Nice to meet you ____________. I am ________ and I am a (synonym/antonym) of your word," we did this on Monday. On Tuesday, they greeted each other the same, but shared their sentence with their family members. Today, they did both showed how they were related and shared a sentence.<br />
<br />
At the beginning of the week, they started off not wanting to shake each other's hands, but by today they were making up their own handshakes and asking me when they were going to meet with their family.<br />
<br />
I'm looking forward to teaching another set of vocabulary words next week!Mrs. Shepherdhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05891907500674949205noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4663356997993980827.post-15697877290764613532015-08-09T11:01:00.000-07:002015-08-09T11:01:58.431-07:00First Day of School Lesson Plan for 5th GradeTomorrow is the big day! The first day of school for me with students and students with their new teacher and grade. My first day of school lesson plans from my post on <a href="http://ericashep.blogspot.com/2015/07/first-day-of-school-lesson-plan.html" target="_blank">Tuesday, July 28</a>, have changed some. I have come across so many great ideas from Twitter, Facebook and the many blogs I follow that I have been so indecisive of what would be the best activities for my 5th graders. Also, with having a grade change this year, moving from 4th to 5th, I needed to make a few tweaks to my plan. This year I will have three classes and will have an hour and 45 minutes with each. So, as you will see a few tweaks to my lesson plan from the one I originally posted a few weeks ago, that you can check out <a href="http://ericashep.blogspot.com/2015/07/first-day-of-school-lesson-plan.html" target="_blank">here</a>.<br />
<br />
So, here's the plan:<br />
<br />
1. <a href="http://teachinginroom6.blogspot.com/2015/07/first-day-of-schoolthe-lesson-plans.html" target="_blank">5th Grade questionnaire</a>-<br />
<br />
A questionnaire and a pencil will be on student's desks as they enter for them to complete as I greet parents and welcome other students into the classroom for the first day. Students will also have a goodie bag from me on their desk which will contain a simple snack, bottle of water, pencil, and a pencil pouch. Pictures to come soon of their goodie bags. (The questionnaire was borrowed from <a href="http://teachinginroom6.blogspot.com/2015/07/first-day-of-schoolthe-lesson-plans.html" target="_blank">Teaching in Room 6</a>.)<br />
<div>
</div>
<br />
2. <a href="https://docs.google.com/document/d/1EorAKulzr_58R_CmS03yd99T3sA3-UpeyavrzMulgYE/edit" target="_blank">WBT (Whole Brain Teaching)</a> -<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-Rdx9Ha0Ru1w/VceUgVNTp5I/AAAAAAAAEXU/ePvOp-ygyKE/s1600/WBT.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="200" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-Rdx9Ha0Ru1w/VceUgVNTp5I/AAAAAAAAEXU/ePvOp-ygyKE/s200/WBT.jpg" width="152" /></a></div>
<br />
After taking attendance, which needs to be done before the start of the day, I will then introduce myself to the class, teach them my "call back" or the "Class-Yes", and review the 5 WBT rules. You can find out more on exactly how to implement this in your room <a href="https://docs.google.com/document/d/1EorAKulzr_58R_CmS03yd99T3sA3-UpeyavrzMulgYE/edit" target="_blank">here</a>.<br />
<br />
3. Supplies-<br />
<br />
Next we will begin picking up supplies. Students are asked to bring in a 3-subject notebook which they will use for Reading, English and Writing and 1 composition book which they will use for Morning work. We will color code our notebook purple. That's my favorite color! <br />
<br />
4. Brain Break Time with <a href="https://www.gonoodle.com/" target="_blank">Go Noodle</a>-<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-h8s2-iBarzQ/VceUmETwi5I/AAAAAAAAEXc/a5YuzPi3wI4/s1600/go%2Bnodle.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="200" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-h8s2-iBarzQ/VceUmETwi5I/AAAAAAAAEXc/a5YuzPi3wI4/s200/go%2Bnodle.jpg" width="194" /></a></div>
<br />
I'm really looking forward to using Go Noodle in my classroom this year! I've already set my class up and can't wait to get students up and moving to wake up those minds and add a little dancing, singing and laughter to my oh so serious 5th grade class.<br />
<br />
5. Introduce Class Economy-<br />
<br />
I started using a class economy this past year in January and wish I would've started sooner, like 13 years sooner. It is awesome and the students buy in quickly. I found a lot of my ideas here again at <a href="http://teachinginroom6.blogspot.com/2014/07/classroom-economy-day-one.html" target="_blank">Teaching in Room 6's blog</a>. She gives step by step directions on how to get started. And I am so excited that this year we will be using play money with our class economy, thanks to a coworker who donated play money to me. This coworker also just started her own blog! You can check it out here at <a href="http://primarilypelafigue.blogspot.com/" target="_blank">Primarily Pelafigue</a>.<br />
<br />
6. <a href="http://teachinginroom6.blogspot.com/2015/07/first-day-of-schoolthe-lesson-plans.html" target="_blank">The Important Book</a>-<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-3GIAdwP1S68/VceUs896QnI/AAAAAAAAEXk/uZwBlySzxRk/s1600/important%2Bbook.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="200" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-3GIAdwP1S68/VceUs896QnI/AAAAAAAAEXk/uZwBlySzxRk/s200/important%2Bbook.jpg" width="139" /></a></div>
<br />
Next I will read the Important book, a great book recommendation by <a href="http://teachinginroom6.blogspot.com/2015/07/first-day-of-schoolthe-lesson-plans.html" target="_blank">Teaching in Room 6</a>. Students will then create a circle map of their best qualities they possess. This will be a great opening review of character traits which will precede a lesson to come in the following weeks on analyzing a character's thoughts and actions. My students will most likely need guidance on choosing traits for themselves, so here's a character trait chart you can grab <a href="http://www.scholastic.com/teachers/sites/default/files/posts/u133/pdfs/list_of_character_traits.pdf" target="_blank">here</a>. I will have students use this and then glue into their reading notebooks.<br />
<br />
7. Kahoot-<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-6yoVxc2KRGM/VceUxvhP5xI/AAAAAAAAEXs/SSx6X62X4-Q/s1600/kahoot.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="200" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-6yoVxc2KRGM/VceUxvhP5xI/AAAAAAAAEXs/SSx6X62X4-Q/s200/kahoot.jpg" width="200" /></a></div>
<br />
Finally to end their hour and 45minutes with me, they will play a short Back to School Quiz on Kahoot.<br />
<br />
Maybe, it's not so different from my other plan just a tad shorter.<br />

Have you heard of any of these? They were all new to me!<br />
<br />
My students and many other students are using these platforms everyday to meet and chat with others, mostly their friends, but sometimes there are opportunities for sexual predators to connect with children. So, I must ask myself do my students know what to do if a stranger tried to connect with them? And are they using the platform appropriately?<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-aaN-ChCobp4/VcQmU7X13iI/AAAAAAAAEWc/zMS2N4uEAEA/s1600/kik.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-aaN-ChCobp4/VcQmU7X13iI/AAAAAAAAEWc/zMS2N4uEAEA/s1600/kik.jpg" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-nwS1Lxy6eQU/VcQmU2DiU1I/AAAAAAAAEWg/AFOCgWw60yE/s1600/skout.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-nwS1Lxy6eQU/VcQmU2DiU1I/AAAAAAAAEWg/AFOCgWw60yE/s1600/skout.jpg" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-ZFz11-cCQ0Q/VcQmVSyXsRI/AAAAAAAAEWk/WZluPobXfoE/s1600/snapchat.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="180" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-ZFz11-cCQ0Q/VcQmVSyXsRI/AAAAAAAAEWk/WZluPobXfoE/s320/snapchat.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-JHY4KQA1txA/VcQmVsbnszI/AAAAAAAAEWs/GGt5d1CCB1U/s1600/tinder.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-JHY4KQA1txA/VcQmVsbnszI/AAAAAAAAEWs/GGt5d1CCB1U/s1600/tinder.jpg" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
There are many more of these networking sites, but these are just a few. What really surprised me was how easy it is to sign up? There are not many questions asked and if kids aren't old enough they can just change the year they were born to get in. And if you google " how kids use ______ (insert the platform)" you get tons of articles talking about the dangers some of these sites have brought to children.<br />
<br />
So, how can we allow our children to use these platforms and keep them safe? We must teach them Digital Citizenship, internet safety and what to do if they come across a cyberbully.<br />
<br />
Here's a great site with a list of resources on cyberbullying <a href="http://www.cybraryman.com/cybersafety.html" target="_blank">here</a>. Here's another link here on online safety for kids <a href="https://kids.usa.gov/online-safety/index.shtml" target="_blank">here</a>.<br />
<br />
Lastly, a great video from the Teaching Channel showcasing a lesson on Digital Citizenship to 3-5th graders.<br />

Today I made my way into my new classroom, which is about 4 doors down from my old classroom. Here's a before picture. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<a href="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-muWEzxhi5hw/VbwefYG91gI/AAAAAAAAEUU/RUMBMxAlF2Q/s640/blogger-image-387126859.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-muWEzxhi5hw/VbwefYG91gI/AAAAAAAAEUU/RUMBMxAlF2Q/s640/blogger-image-387126859.jpg" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">

Another before picture</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">

<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
This is how it looked after my husband and I worked in the room for 6 hours. I still have lots to do! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<a href="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-XG2CrQhFEos/Vbwc-WkNdLI/AAAAAAAAETg/g-9Nuc9Icc4/s640/blogger-image-704018981.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-XG2CrQhFEos/Vbwc-WkNdLI/AAAAAAAAETg/g-9Nuc9Icc4/s640/blogger-image-704018981.jpg" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
This is my homework board. I adapted the idea from the Super Improver Wall from WBT. Students will all start off with a white star and once they get 10 hole punches in their index card for completing homework they move up to the next star. Students receive an incentive at each level. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<a href="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-xNFGebPp7h8/Vbwej57dhcI/AAAAAAAAEUc/abJgNyU0exM/s640/blogger-image-277508471.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-xNFGebPp7h8/Vbwej57dhcI/AAAAAAAAEUc/abJgNyU0exM/s640/blogger-image-277508471.jpg" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
This board will be where I write homework, the objective or learning goal, and the essential question for the Reading lesson. My husband had to put his touch on the room by writing my name on the board. :)</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-jW0orTViASQ/VbwenxPz2YI/AAAAAAAAEUk/82XA87Q0RIU/s640/blogger-image-1141403930.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-jW0orTViASQ/VbwenxPz2YI/AAAAAAAAEUk/82XA87Q0RIU/s640/blogger-image-1141403930.jpg" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
This board contains my Class rules, class jobs and information about our Class economy. The bare board to the left will be for writing anchor charts. Not sure what I will put in the space to the right. I'll take suggestions! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">

Here's part of my library. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">

<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
Here you can see my test strategy board and the cart which will hold my laptop connected to the Promethean board. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<br /></div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
Here's the front left of the room. Still have lots to do here. This will be my goal on Monday. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<a href="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-2NRRHIOVWcc/VbwctvlxSKI/AAAAAAAAETY/zF0kqXXKD9U/s640/blogger-image-1253350114.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-2NRRHIOVWcc/VbwctvlxSKI/AAAAAAAAETY/zF0kqXXKD9U/s640/blogger-image-1253350114.jpg" /></a></div>
<br />
Oh my goodness! That pink box on the wall is driving me crazy! This room really needs to be painted, but I don't have time. Not sure what I will do with this area. Yuck!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<a href="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-z7_re5G1o38/VbwecOc26lI/AAAAAAAAEUM/sKJZvDQZ1Wc/s640/blogger-image--64443589.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-z7_re5G1o38/VbwecOc26lI/AAAAAAAAEUM/sKJZvDQZ1Wc/s640/blogger-image--64443589.jpg" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
This is the back of the classroom. Work to be done here also! I really need a classroom designer. </div>

After 10 years of teaching 4th grade, I found out on Monday that I will begin this school year as the 5th grade ELA teacher. I have lots of mixed emotions about the change. I am going to surely miss working closely with my 4th grade team, although we will still have the same lunch and planning. I am nervous about changing curriculums. I spent a lot of time the last two years studying the new 4th grade CCSS and now I will have to learn a new one. Ahhh! I am excited about looping and having most of the same kids I taught last year. I feel like I will be able to jump right in and get things going where we left off. Plus most of them know my expectations and routine and will be able to assist the new students.<br />
<br />
I will now teach 5th grade Reading & Writing to 3 different classes, which means my first day of school plans have changed slightly from my last post that you can read <a href="http://ericashep.blogspot.com/2015/07/first-day-of-school-lesson-plan.html" target="_blank">here</a>. My plans will obviously be much shorter.<br />
<br />
I am looking forward to the change and especially the looks on my former students' faces when they see I will be their reading teacher again!<br />

That was a lot of work for the first day considering I still have the rest of the week to plan for, lol! I learned a lot though, and found many great resources to use this coming year.<br />
<br />
I don't have my schedule yet, which I won't get until next Wednesday so here's a bulleted list of activities I have planned for the first day which is a Monday for students, August 10th.<br />
<br />
<br />
<ul>
<li><a href="http://teachinginroom6.blogspot.com/2015/07/first-day-of-schoolthe-lesson-plans.html" target="_blank">4th Grade Questionnaire</a> - A questionnaire and a pencil will be on student's desks as they enter for them to complete as I greet parents and welcome other students into the classroom for the first day. Students will also have a goodie bag from me on their desk which will contain a simple snack, bottle of water, pencil, and a pencil pouch. Pictures to come soon of their goodie bags. (The questionnaire was borrowed from <a href="http://teachinginroom6.blogspot.com/2015/07/first-day-of-schoolthe-lesson-plans.html" target="_blank">Teaching in Room 6</a>.) </li>
</ul>

<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-cOpGptcFLDM/VbecviSaBLI/AAAAAAAAERw/U_1xHyTJHsk/s1600/WBT.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="200" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-cOpGptcFLDM/VbecviSaBLI/AAAAAAAAERw/U_1xHyTJHsk/s200/WBT.jpg" width="152" /></a></div>
<div>
<ul>
<li><a href="https://docs.google.com/document/d/1EorAKulzr_58R_CmS03yd99T3sA3-UpeyavrzMulgYE/edit" target="_blank">WBT (Whole Brain Teaching)</a> - After taking attendance, which needs to be done before the start of the day, I will then introduce myself to the class, teach them my "call back" or the "Class-Yes", introduce the Scoreboard, review the 5 WBT rules and finally learn students names playing the name game. You can find out more on exactly how to implement this in your room <a href="https://docs.google.com/document/d/1EorAKulzr_58R_CmS03yd99T3sA3-UpeyavrzMulgYE/edit" target="_blank">here</a>. Did you know Chris Bifle the founder of WBT is on Periscope? You can watch him live giving great tips on how to get WBT started in your classroom. Mrs. Shipley is also great on Periscope for teaching WBT. </li>
</ul>

<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<ul>
<li>Brain Break Time with <a href="https://www.gonoodle.com/" target="_blank">Go Noodle</a>- I'm really looking forward to using Go Noodle in my classroom this year! I've already set my class up and can't wait to get students up and moving to wake up those minds and add a little dancing, singing and laughter to my oh so serious 4th grade class. </li>
</ul>
<div>
<br /></div>
</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<ul>
<li>Supplies- Next we will begin picking up supplies and color coding our notebooks. Students are asked to bring in 5 black and white composition notebooks. Each notebook is color coded on the edge for students to easily access when digging in their desk or school bag for the required notebook. Some students will be done color coding and picking up supplies faster than others, so early finishers will have a <a href="http://puzzlemaker.discoveryeducation.com/WordSearchSetupForm.asp?campaign=flyout_teachers_puzzle_wordcross" target="_blank">Class Name Word-search</a> on their desk to complete. </li>
</ul>
<div>
<div>
<br /></div>
</div>
<div>
<ul>
<li>Introduce Class Economy- I started using a class economy this past year in January and wish I would've started sooner, like 13 years sooner. My one thing to work on this year is to assign bankers at each table at the end of the week to total students budgets. I'll post pictures soon of my rewards and my Class Economy bulletin board later this week when I get into my classroom. </li>
</ul>
<div>
<br /></div>

<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-dbgHAvDC-14/Vbel5EiAUuI/AAAAAAAAESQ/fEb0SAJ0wPA/s1600/important%2Bbook.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="200" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-dbgHAvDC-14/Vbel5EiAUuI/AAAAAAAAESQ/fEb0SAJ0wPA/s200/important%2Bbook.jpg" width="139" /></a><br />
<ul>
<li><a href="http://teachinginroom6.blogspot.com/2015/07/first-day-of-schoolthe-lesson-plans.html" target="_blank">The Important Book</a>- Next I will read the Important book, a great book recommendation by <a href="http://teachinginroom6.blogspot.com/2015/07/first-day-of-schoolthe-lesson-plans.html" target="_blank">Teaching in Room 6</a>. I will have students use this and then glue into their reading notebooks.</li>
</ul>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<ul>
<li>Brain Break with <a href="http://www.gonoodle.com/" target="_blank">Go Noodle</a></li>
</ul>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-rciT62qZpPc/VbelyWYf_iI/AAAAAAAAESI/t0I5DLc9l60/s1600/kidblog.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="109" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-rciT62qZpPc/VbelyWYf_iI/AAAAAAAAESI/t0I5DLc9l60/s200/kidblog.jpg" width="200" /></a></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
</div>
</div>
<br />
<div>
<div>
<ul>
<li>Writing Activity- We will then choose three traits from our circle maps and write a letter about our self. This will be a guided writing lesson in which students will follow along copying and filling in their blanks with their qualities and reasons as I write my own letter about myself. This will also be there first introduction to <a href="http://kidblog.org/home/" target="_blank">Kidblog. </a> I will type my letter via Kidblog as they follow along. If time allows, students will begin typing their letters via Kidblog. </li>
</ul>
<div>
<br /></div>
</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<ul><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-QgB2p_g6fPk/VbeneKoQtFI/AAAAAAAAESc/LdynP2CvU18/s1600/book.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="200" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-QgB2p_g6fPk/VbeneKoQtFI/AAAAAAAAESc/LdynP2CvU18/s200/book.jpg" width="184" /></a>
<li>Finally, and another wonderful idea borrowed from <a href="http://teachinginroom6.blogspot.com/2015/07/first-day-of-schoolthe-lesson-plans.html" target="_blank">Teaching in Room 6</a>, I will end the day with a Read Aloud from Louis Sachar <i>There's a Boy in the Girl's Bathroom. </i>I will read as much as I can until busses begin being called. </li>
</ul>
</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
I really want to also do the <a href="http://teachinginroom6.blogspot.com/2013/08/all-hands-in.html" target="_blank">All Hands in Project</a> with students from Teaching in Room 6, but I am not sure where to fit it in. Maybe, I will hold off on the writing activity for Tuesday and replace it with that. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
I definitely think I have over planned for the first day. </div>

<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-Crzv3kATOZ8/Va_CCqEdHXI/AAAAAAAAERI/tyVLJhwPNBY/s1600/word%2Bnerds.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-Crzv3kATOZ8/Va_CCqEdHXI/AAAAAAAAERI/tyVLJhwPNBY/s1600/word%2Bnerds.jpg" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
Chapter 6 of Word Nerds is "Celebrate to Validate". As I left off on my last post on how I would bump up my vocabulary instruction in my classroom <a href="http://ericashep.blogspot.com/2015/07/bumping-up-my-vocabulary-instruction.html" target="_blank">here</a>, I didn't mention what my plan was going to be on Day 5.<br />
<br />
Little did I know that Chapter 6 was all about the last day. It is a day to "Celebrate to Validate". Chapter 6 gives you a plethora of ways to host a vocabulary party in your classroom to review those words studied for the week and recognize all of the students hard work.<br />
<br />
My favorite party mentioned is "Celebrating Velcro Words." Velcro Words are words that will stick to your brain. According to the text, "The teacher calls on a student to share their favorite word and explain why they think it's a Velcro word. The teacher may then ask, When can you use the word _______? The student will then give their answer and the teacher will scan the room looking for approval or use the thumbs up/down signal. Finally the teacher will say, "(Student name) , we appreciate the word ______ and celebrate its use. Hear, hear!" The students will raise their cups and intone say, "Hear, hear! Then they each take a sip of juice. "(Chapter 6).<br />
<br />
A game not mentioned in Chapter 6, but a game that has been a favorite of my class is <a href="https://getkahoot.com/" target="_blank">Kahoot</a>. <a href="https://getkahoot.com/" target="_blank">Kahoot </a>would make for a fantastic game to play on a Friday before their test. <a href="https://getkahoot.com/" target="_blank">Kahoot</a> gets students engaged, using technology, and gets them collaborating and discussing those words one last time for the week. I would create the game as a cloze structure with students choosing the correct word to fill in sentences.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-rxRzdKdL1P8/Va_ERbohrmI/AAAAAAAAERU/ZYf_hYPCliU/s1600/kahoot.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-rxRzdKdL1P8/Va_ERbohrmI/AAAAAAAAERU/ZYf_hYPCliU/s1600/kahoot.jpg" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I would love to hear how you review before the test whether it's vocabulary or another subject?</div>
